Dr. Robert Bohlander, Ph.D., a Presidential Scholar and magna cum laude graduate of Lebanon Valley College of Pennsylvania, was awarded a Rush Rhees Fellowship to continue graduate study at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. There he completed his doctoral degree in both the Department of Psychology's Sensory and Perceptual Processes Program, as well as the interdisciplinary Center for Visual Science. He obtained additional specialization in Neurophysiology through the University of Rochester Medical Center's Center for Brain Research. His doctoral work focused on The Influence of Head Position and Visual Attention on Perceived Auditory Direction.
Upon receiving his Ph.D. in 1981, Dr. Bohlander accepted a faculty position at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA, where he currently holds the rank of Professor of Psychology. He has taught courses in neuropsychology, psychopathology, clinical psychology, research design and analysis, and critical thinking. While at Wilkes University, Dr. Bohlander also served for 6 years as a Rehabilitation Services Specialist for the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs. A Pennsylvania Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Bohlander maintains a private clinical psychology practice within the consulting group Counseling and Learning Associates, in Kingston, PA. Dr. Bohlander has basic and advanced training in the Halstead-Reitan and the Luria-Nebraska neuropsychological test batteries, and has extensive experience in assessing and treating patients who have a suffered traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Bohlander is a regularly invited presenter at psychology research conferences, and has published numerous articles in a variety of psychology journals as well as other science journals. His research emphasis is currently on factors that influence psychological well-being, and on methodological issues in scientific research. Dr, Bohlander is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Eastern Psychological Association, and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. He has served as a President of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, and the Board of Editors of the Pennsylvania Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Bohlander's role within the NeuroSensory Center of Eastern Pennsylvania is to provide psychological and neuropsychological patient assessments, and to consult on the potential involvement of psychological and neuropsychological factors in patients' medical conditions and symptom presentation.
